UPSIDE DOWN WITCHES

For those living in the southern hemisphere

Living in Australia – or anywhere in the southern hemisphere for that matter – can be a little confusing for a witch. Most books I have read list dates for Sabbaths that bear no relation to the actual cycle of our seasons. We are at opposite ends of the seasonal wheel with our Northern hemisphere family.

So for us here today, it marks the half way point between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice , the sabbath of Beltane — a celebration of Growth!

This is the most fertile and sensual time of the wheel so immerse yourself in pleasure before the wheel turns again. This gate is when all hibernating animals are awake, signifying it is when we are fully conscious, alive and ready to fully participate with opportunities around us.

It’s also a time of lovers and spells to attract love, and celebrating the fertility of life, not just physically, but also of our dreams and ambitions. Symbolically this day marks the igniting of the fires of creativity and passion, of the fertility of our desires being made manifest, as the universe bursts with a raw energy and power that we can tap in to simply by breathing it in.

Now, is a wonderful time to get your inner-garden ready for all of the abundance and blessings the universe is waiting to provide for you. But first, we must sow in our seeds, water them daily with love, and weed out anything that doesn’t make them flourish -- And grow, grow, grow!
